What does autumn mean to you? What is your favorite thing about fall?
For me, autumn is a time of reflection. Who have I become this year? Where am I going? What did I succeed at? How did I get here? Why do I want what I want? This has been especially important this year as I found myself unemployed at the equinox. I’ve enjoyed the slower pace and discovering what is really important to me. I’ve been more creative too, so much so that there are not enough hours in the day to try all of my new ideas!
Autumn is preparation for the long winter, planning and organizing for this impending period of rest that begins at the Winter Solstice. There is the never ending yard work, canning, if you are into that, and cleaning up the house to get ready for the upcoming holidays. It’s all kind of cathartic, don’t you think?
I enjoy watching the seasons change here in Iowa. The leaves are just beginning to turn. The air is cooler and drier. Most of the bugs are gone! I LOVE pumpkin everything, including the warm, burnt color. There is a feeling of abundance in the fall. I am also super excited about all of the craft shows and events that start this time of year!
Please share your feelings on autumn. I’d love to hear them!
